Cupping

A ‘cup’ is a specially designed plastic open-ended jar.

The cups have a valve so the pressure can be subtly adjusted. Our naturopath uses transparent vacuum cups so she can accurately control the level of vacuum created.

A sensation of a vacuum is created by gently placing the cups on top of the skin on areas of pain or tension especially on the back or shoulders.

They are either slid slowly over the skin’s surface to give the sensation of a massage or left until they loosen naturally. Cupping is especially effective for back ache and muscle tension and helps to relieve painful muscular conditions.

This therapy can be used with or without Acupuncture.
